Good Psychics, Fun Fortunetellers &
Frauds,
- Knowing the Difference.
Ever since human beings first became societies and tribes,
there
was always that one special person who knew all, saw
all, and
sometimes healed all. This person was the shaman or
the wise one.
Today's modern psychic is similar to the ancient wise
ones. He or
she is the person who can see beyond the physical and
bring that
which is in the shadows into the light. Through the
ages the
ancient psychic resolved problems, foretold the future
and helped
keep the tribes together.
Today, our society has more psychics, astrologers, and
palmists
than anytime in the history of human kind. There are
thousands of
telephone psychics, hundreds of independent psychics,
and a local
neighborhood psychic in almost every city around the
globe.
What was once a trade of chickens and food for services
in the
ancient times, is now a multi-million dollar industry,
with various
estimates ranging from $100 million to $4 billion a
year in the
psychic business. These figures do not even begin to
include the
amount for trade books, supplies and other
items for the
do-it-yourself person interested in building his/her
individual
psychic abilities.
With so many individuals joining the psychic business,
how can you
tell who is an honest-to-goodness psychic and who is
a fake? There
are basically three kinds of psychics out there. The
good ones are
those who are compassionate and care for the individual
and provide
a strong and accurate reading. These psychic counselors
are more
interested in acquiring good karma for this life time
rather than
in getting rich. They sometimes rely on donations and
take the time
to read for those who have no money. The second type
of psychic is
not necessarily bad but is basically an entertainer.
This psychic
is very astute and well trained in the area of a "cold
reading".
Cold readers are hired to read at parties and sometimes
appear on
the psychic TV shows. They can be a lot of fun and
basically do
no harm, some being very good with their readings because
of their
powers of observation. The 'cold reading' consists
of general state-
ments that adhere to most people like:
- you are currently struggling a bit with finances and
wish your
personal life was just a bit better (Gee, aren't
we all?)
- you have strong psychic skills yourself that are lying
dormant
in your mind (Everyone loves a compliment!)
- you will live a long and happy life, perhaps 89 -99
(No one really
wants to know they will die young.)
- I see someone coming into your life who will bring
you good news
and start to turn the wheel of fortune for you (Sometimes
the
postman brings good news.)
- you will experience many changes this year (We all
experience
changes, every year.)
These are just samples of traditional statements made
in 'cold
readings'. The Gypsies sometimes relied on this method
of fortune
telling when they were "off", couldn't see
anything or couldn't make
a connection with the individual. A 'cold reading'
was used as a
kind of "jump start" into a real psychic reading.
The third type of psychic, or shall we say the REAL
FRAUD, will try
to take you for all you're worth! This psychic may
tell you that an
evil spell was cast on you. She may tell you that your
life will be
in a shambles and miserable for many years to come 'if'
you don't
break the evil spell. These frauds offer to do a "cleansing"
of the
soul and undo the retched evil spell, but they will
need very special
ingredients. The ingredients can cost anywhere from
$50 to $1000.
If the psychic continually asks you for money, then
you can pretty
much count on this person being a big time FRAUD. Its
a pity too,
because they give the good and caring psychics a bad
name to the
general public.
Now a TRUE psychic provides real clues to what is happening
in your
present cycle and the past which leads to future events.
The true
psychic helps determine the road you are taking and
what the
possible outcome of your actions will be.
Real psychics can not turn "on" and "off"
at will. It may happen
that the psychic is turned "off" when you
meet her and cannot
establish a connection with you. A true honorable psychic
will
turn you away and ask you to come back another day for
a reading
and refund your money. When this happens please consider
returning
to that psychic, chances are she will give you an excellent
and
accurate reading the next time you meet.
Here are a few clues to help you recognize a true psychic
when you
meet one. If your psychic is 'tuned in', then expect
this kind of
information:
A basic outline of your past - exact dates are not
mentioned,
rather a broad spectrum of the past is mentioned with
some details
being explained. Your psychic will talk to you about
present
situations and/or problem(s). The present and the
past are the
keys to the future.
The explanation your psychic gives you regarding current
problems
or conflicts will give you the insight you need to
help solve the
problems. Your psychic will explain the journey you
are traveling
at the present time. Stay open to her. If she is
not addressing
a particular aspect of your present journey, by all
means tell her
so. Chances are, she is explaining a situation in
a way you cannot
understand or sometimes accept. If you are totally
closed to her,
again, the honorable psychic will refund your money
and ask you to
come back another day when your mind is more receptive
or open to
her. The psychic you visit should be able to give
you some advice
on how to overcome current problems or conflicts.
She can see
some of the future possibilities or milestones in
your way and
advise you on how to avoid serious difficulties.
Based on the
issues regarding your past and present a true psychic
can usually
predict future events with astounding accuracy.
A true psychic is the modern day shaman - the counselor
and problem
solver of old. There are many who dedicate their lives
to giving
good readings rather than becoming rich or famous.
Unfortunately
the extremely profitable psychic "business"
has created a lot of
money-grubbing "readers" out there who are
just in it for a quick
buck.

Using Crystals for Healing and Personal Growth
When you go out to the "New Age" shops are
you a bit overwhelmed by
the choice and variety of crystals to choose from?
Confused about
their properties?
The logic behind why they work is as follows:
Gemstones carry vibrational rates and when you place
them on your

When you have selected a crystal it is generally recommended
that
you carry it on your person in order to activate and
thus feel its
effects. The more you handle your crystal the more

from salt to
sunshine baths. Some people simply like to collect
them. I use
some of mine as wish stones for my clients during readings.

So What is a Blue Moon?
Two Full Moons in one month
make for once in a Blue Moon.
We are not having any Blue Moons this year but the experts
say that
year 2001 will have an official "Blue Moon"
in November. Your
geographic location can make a difference to your experience
of a
Blue Moon. Depending on your longitude you may go through
a date
change prior to other locations which means the full
moon is at the
first of your new month and falls at the end of the
preceding month
somewhere else. The "blue" one is always
the 2nd full moon in the
same month. The regular full moons of each month all
have their own
individual names as follows:
Moon after Yule, Wolf Moon, Lenten Moon, Egg Moon, Milk
Moon, Flower
Moon, Hay Moon, Grain Moon, Fruit Moon, Harvest Moon,
Hunters' Moon
and Moon Before Yule.
Historically the Blue Moon was considered unlucky and
a real nuisance
when it occurred at various times of the year and upset
scheduling
of church festivals. In love songs the Blue Moon is
often a symbol
of sadness and loneliness.
The first appearance in print of this expression goes
back to
the time of Shakespeare, when some folks felt that sometimes
the moon
visually appeared blue in the sky. Although the expression
dates all
that way back, it has only recently come to mean the
second Full Moon
in one month. Blue Moon seems to be a truly modern
piece of folklore,
old folklore it is not, but real folklore it is.
