schizophrenia. With psychological help or often
through
only the passage of time, these activities can diminish or
disappear.
Subsequently it appears that poltergeist activity is usually
but not always completely unrelated to hauntings. It is
often triggered by a living person's trauma. Poltergeists
can be dangerous both physically and mentally, and
sometimes when they actually leave the physical site of
the activity the phenomena does not stop.

Humour Offering
Working as a psychic I shake my head about this caller's
question.
The woman wanted me to match up her 5 children with
the correct 5 fathers. (On the phone of course within her
three free minutes.)
The children being at least 9 to 10 months apart, one would
think she might have SOME small inkling of a clue for at
least a couple of them...?

Playing Parlour Games
with your Psychic
(or Unreasonable Expectations)
Some people's perception of psychics, seems to suggest
that they are omnipotent. A common inquiry from a potential
customer unfolds as follows:
Psychic Reader: "What is your name?"
Customer: "You tell
me, you're the psychic!"
Go ahead and laugh, but therein lies a typical belief for many.
Being labeled as a "psychic", "medium", "clairvoyant"
or any
variation on that theme, supposedly endows the holder with
the abilities to see and know about everything, including past,
present and future.
If "psychics" really knew everything about everyone, that
had ever been or ever will be, not only would they know next
week's winning lotto numbers, but they would also be
enjoying the life that kind of money could buy, rather than
attempting to provide insight to unrealistic clients
Another type of belief is the one held by the skeptics. "If I
can't see it, hear it, touch it, smell it or eat it then it's bunk".
Being governed by five senses, anything from the "sixth" one,
simply doesn't exist.
Everyone has some psychic ability, even skeptics! Some
people use it and aren't aware of it - they put things down to
a "hunch", "intuition" or "co-incidence".
Some people have
become so wrapped up in their own fear and problems, that
they have blocked themselves to anything outside of their own
narrow focus. Some people have strong psychic ability but
hide it for fear of what others might think, especially if it
conflicts with their religious beliefs.
However, some people use it and are aware of it, cultivate
it and nurture it. These are very normal people who have
allowed their psychic awareness to develop, to varying
degrees. Small children are often very "psychic", until they
have been told once too often that their "imaginary friend"
isn't real or maybe they've been punished for making up
stories because they knew something that no rational adult
could explain. It doesn't take long for a child to learn the
rules of conformity and how to avoid difficulty by not
demonstrating any "differences".
Another line: "I'm from a long line of psychics" suggests
that this "gift" is handed down like some mystical family
secret. The main benefit that this person has is that they
grew up in an environment where it was OK to use these
abilities and call them by their names! So of course such
ability would be fostered and grow.
So what can a "psychic reader" really do?
For each psychic the answer is different. Partly it depends
on the values of the "psychic" and what their particular
abilities are. Some focus on the person for whom they are
reading, their problems, relationships etc and guide them by
helping them to understand themselves better and suggest
where particular paths are taking them. Some claim to be
a “channel” for other spirits or deceased persons to
impart information - these "psychics" are often called
spiritual mediums. Every psychic reader is different and
may use different tools to assist them, such as Tarot cards,
crystals, runes, astrology charts or an object belonging to
the person that they are trying to "tune in" to.
Much of a psychic reading depends on the questions
asked. If a question is vague or without specific context,
then the answer is going to be equally vague. When
someone comes to a reader and deliberately tries to disguise
or hide details about their life (such as removing wedding
rings and refusing to engage in any type of light as opposed
to probing introductory dialogue) the reading is destined to
be as blocked and as rigid as the person who is seeking it.
Here are some examples of frequently asked unrealistic
questions in readings.
"Will my son/daughter be happy in life?" - does that mean,
this month? this year? the rest of his/her life? do they want
a balance of probability or a day by day accounting?
"What is my future?" - this is a REALLY big one, have
we got a few years to go through all this? or do we
summarize to just the highlights? should we miss out the
bad bits or just focus on the life altering events? would
they really like to know that they are going to spend the
next 40 years married to the spouse from hell because
they don't have any values of self-worth? maybe they
would just like a few colourful tidbits to take away as a
memento and look forward to, because a "psychic" told
them so!
"Is so-and-so my soul mate? If they aren't, when will I
meet them?" - You really need to ask someone else if the
person that you are living with is your soul mate or not?
you can't tell? and what do you mean by a "soul mate"
anyway? Or are you really saying that the thought of
pushing off on your own is so frightening that you want to
hold on to anything until something better drifts past, but
you want to know when, where and who so you don't miss
them?
"Will that good news message arrive next Tuesday or
Wednesday?" - You'd hope that the described event unfolding
within the next few weeks would satisfy the impatient client
in terms of accuracy!
"What does he think of me and when will he call?" - A psychic
can provide an overview of his attitude and some idea about
his contact being sooner rather than later or never, but really,
God knows the details of how and why this man thinks in
whatever fashion, and only God knows exactly the time when
his finger will hit your phone number on the dial.
A popular question after the WTC event of September 11th
was "why didn't any psychics predict it so it could be stopped?".
Well, some probably did "see" the event, perhaps some even
had the date to go with it, some maybe even tried to warn
others. Chances are they would either be passed off as
"nut cases" or locked up as suspected co-conspirators. Do
you really believe that the commercial and political
organizations affected would have been likely to pay any
attention to something that was so far beyond normal
beliefs? Do you think it likely that they would tell thousands
of staff "don't come in today, because this alleged "psychic"
person says the building is going to be bombed"? Or, do you
think it is even likely that crime fighters would have locked
up "suspects" who had not yet committed any crime,
especially if there was no actual evidence?
So without the power to change anything, what would be
the purpose in knowing an event in advance. What torment
would you feel if you knew that something bad would happen
to others, but you couldn't prevent it? Do you think it would
serve any purpose in the grand scheme of things? This is the
reason why there was no apparent flood of premonitions by
psychics. But, there definitely were people who did have
"feelings" to do something differently that day, without
knowing why.
The question that always galls me is - "What year will I
die?" I mean if this person put more energy into making
their own life meaningful, their passing might be more
significant to a greater number of people when God finally
does call their number. Twenty year olds worrying about
their dates of death obviously don't have major plans that
are running out of time before that final event.
Or "Tell me something significant about my past." This
person is obviously more familiar with their own life events
than any psychic could ever be. This transparent test to
validate the psychic only causes tension and thus lack of
focus for the psychic during the reading. Yes, it is realistic
to expect some reasonably accurate allusions to events in
your past to emerge within the reading, but asking for this
type of information up front upsets the equilibrium and flow
of the reading. Obviously this person's purpose in having
a reading done is to exercise their nitpicking skills and
analysis of the psychic's abilities rather than glean any
insight or intuitive counsel.
And remember, at the heart of every "psychic" is a human
being with human values. They just have a different
"perspective". Obviously as you can see from the above,
some questions simply can't be answered by psychics and
others definitely won't be answered (by their choice) either.
