That Old Adage Again

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace;
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go;
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for its living;
But the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

Mother Goose

How many of us know what day of the week we were born on?
Uncannily for my friends and family the above rhyme is really accurate! This URL http://www.vpcalendar.net/20th_21st.html leads to a perpetual calendar to help you figure out for yourself whether the verse affected your destiny. But I would never admit if I did sometimes jump start a reading on such freely accessible child focused knowledge. Sometimes incorporating these little truisms can expand my insights with great accuracy.

It mystifies me that a folk saying or proverb or child's verse so often contains the exact answer or explanation for someone's psychic query.
When I am completing a reading I find that chronically I want to type and incorporate the words of whatever old saying it is that fits the person's current set of problems or concerns. Rewording and modernizing those concepts so that they are understood as applicable to the current situation, is sometimes the hardest part of the reading.

Microsoft Encarta says:
ad·age
(plural ad·ages) n
saying: a traditional saying that expresses something taken as a general truth [Mid-16th century. Via French , from Latin adagium , from ad "to" + a variant of aio "I say."]
and
cli·ché [klee sháy]
(plural cli·chés) n
1. overused expression: a phrase or word that has lost its original effectiveness or power from overuse
2. overused idea: an overused activity or notion [Mid-19th century. From French , the past participle of clicher "to stereotype,"]

So again, why is Mother Goose usually correct and why are the old overused sayings so fitting? Sayings such as "A friend in need is a friend indeed" and "A penny saved is a penny earned" and "A stitch in time saves nine" and "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" and "Curiosity killed the cat" and so on. To me, adage and cliché basically mean the same thing.

There exists a racial consciousness, an accumulated storehouse or database of wisdom and understanding about life and universal symbols, that is shared by and available to all mankind. We are all connected atomically to one another through the ether, breathing the same molecules of air and re drinking the same water albeit years later. These shared atoms and electrons carry this consciousness to each and every one of us. We all progress through the same stages of life, and although our personal experiences may differ drastically, our responses and the advice or counsel we may need are in most ways universal. There is probably no feeling or situation that is truly unique to any of us. The human condition has met and dealt with every possibility before. OK, so now a computer crash devastates us, whereas 200 years ago the equivalent loss might have been the result of a fire. Even meeting an alien species has been undergone before, when the first man met his first bear! The greatest delights and the most trying sorrows have been felt and remarked on, in recorded history. And the more witty or insightful comments have simply become humanity's language and lore.

My reading tool of choice, the Tarot, covers every attitude and situation that is possible for mankind. And I have found there is a cliché to cover every one of those 78 cards!

Remember now, particularly if you are lovelorn at the moment, "Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread," originally by Alexander Pope in the 1700's and refreshed by Willie Nelson. And also perfect, up to the minute advice for anyone who is feeling impatient or pressured about a relationship!

Practice some Automatic or Trance Writing

Automatic writing is defined as writing executed by a medium while in a trance or an altered state of consciousness. Occultists believe automatic writing is the product of communication with a spiritual being, but psychical researchers believe it emanates from the writer's own subconscious, or perhaps through ESP.

The writer is usually unaware of what is being written. Typically the process is much faster than ordinary handwriting and the script is larger and more expansive. Automatic writers have also produced mirror script and backwards writing, starting from the bottom right of the page and finishing at the top left. At the height of the spiritualism movement automatic writing was common in seances, where it was adopted as a superior method of communicating with the dead, preferred over rappings or using a planchette. (The ouija board pointer type of pointer.)

Automatic writing was supposedly invaluable in the psychic explorations carried out in Great Britain in the early twentieth century. This type of writing has also been used by psychologists and psychiatrists in the investigation and treatment of mental illness.

With automatic writing being an established form of prediction, usually the communications seem to come out of thin air to your hand and then to paper. A few who have tried this type of divination have put on paper beautiful songs, long notes, and even a book or two. This can be hard since it takes time and patience and is not likely to happen on demand, it may take months. To get started, practice at least once a week and then only for 15 minutes, you may practice longer if you wish but give it a rest after an hour.

1. Get yourself a pen or pencil and some paper.

2. Go to an area you’re not likely to be disturbed.

(You may want to shut the ringer off the phone.)

3. You should sit at a chair with a table or someplace similar.

4. Be comfortable. Make contact with the pen or pencil to the paper.

5. Meditate about 5 minutes, to help clear your mind and put yourself in a receptive frame of mind.

6. Relax your hand so that you’re not gripping the pen or pencil ferociously and be natural, trying not to force words onto the paper. Keep your mind clear, let your hand write whatever comes across.

7. Sometimes it helps to start scribbling or making circular doodles. or to just start writing whatever letters occur to your mind/hand.

8. Don’t look at your writing or even think about what is being put on the page, you may wish to close your eyes. Give it time to happen (nothing might happen for quite a while but don't give up too easily).

9. If you feel drowsy that is a good sign that you are entering into an altered consciousness. If you end up only having a nap, obviously you needed the restful interval away from the normal rush of everyday life. Try again another time.

10. If nothing happens at first, keep trying. Once you seem to be marking or writing, go as fast as you can. If, for some reason, the flow stops, leave a space and immediately begin again by writing down the first letter of the next sentence. Choose this letter at random before you begin, for instance, a 'T', and always begin this new sentence with a 'T'.

11. Only after you’re done it is time to carefully look over what your hand has produced. If there appear to be words (they may look childish) try to figure out what the words are. Look for pictures or symbols too. The writing may appear to be nonsense or just scribbling, but endeavour to decipher it as well as possible.

12. The writings should get clearer as you sharpen and become comfortable with your skills.

13. If you feel you had some accomplishment, start asking questions and see if you get answers.

14. Don’t give up if it doesn't work at first. (This cannot be stressed too much). Give it a chance or you may miss out on some very fascinating enlightenments.

Automatic writing is the most direct of Surrealist techniques.
Although in the purest version of automatism nothing is 'corrected' or re-written the unexpected material produced by this method can be used as the basis for further composition. What is crucial is the unpremeditated free association that creates the basic text.

What's the Paper say about Your Star Sign?

It is virtually impossible for twelve astrology signs to accurately predict someone's day in the morning newspaper. Sometimes if you read the 'scope for your sign in the evening and then mentally review your day, the inaccuracy leaves you feeling like you must be living on the wrong planet!
We all know our sun sign, or can find out from an ephemeris if we are on the cusp (ending and starting dates of a sun sign). What you need to know about your newspaper horoscope is that everybody should be reading three of those signs for a closer idea of what might unfold that day. The equally important power points of your natal astrological chart are the sun sign, the moon sign and the ascendant, or rising sign. The latter is calculated based on your time of birth adjusted for latitude and then to Greenwich mean time. Talk about complicated! And another difficulty there is in having that time and place reported to you accurately. If you are very sure of those facts enter them into a "free" astrology site on the web (if you can find one) and let a computer calculate your rising sign. Your moon sign is available in any ephemeris you may consult. Here is a URL for an on-line ephemeris, http://www.achernar.btinternet.co.uk/fm.html .

Once you are reading at least two of those three star sign reports, I guarantee that your daily horoscope will be more relevant and make better sense for you.

My FAQ

Hi,

I and my husband have both witnessed this, a white light, mostly in our peripheral vision and this has happened a few times now. Most recently tonight by me. Is there a reasonable explanation for this?

Thanks

Hello,

I have been researching why and how people see lights or apparitions. There is a great deal of evidence that changes in magnetic or gravitational fields on the earth produce visible effects for sensitive people. So strange lights could be a warning of impending earthquake or similar natural disaster.
White light is in the paranormal sense usually protective and beneficial. If such light is associated with the spirit of someone who has passed over, that person's spirit is not a threat to you. Whatever, relax about these lights. Start keeping a notebook or journal with the times, dates and places either of you two see the lights. Perhaps from that record you can figure out a pattern associated with the lights, such as what your activity usually is, your general location, if ertain other people are usually present and even your emotional state at the time of the viewing. By collecting this type of information, the experience becomes less frightening, and eventually you will be able to anticipate it and probably understand it.

Karmic Lessons

According to the Microsoft Encarta dictionary, karma is an Eastern philosophy: the Hindu and Buddhist philosophy by which the quality of people’s current and future lives is determined by their behavior in this and previous lives [Early 19th century. From Sanskrit karman "fate, action."]

Eastern philosophies and religions which embrace reincarnation believe that we choose the challenges that we will face in each lifetime. For many of us, the challenge is around relationships. This particular challenge is clearly indicated in natal astrology charts. Soulmates are also clearly defined astrologically, and it seems tragic when you meet a soulmate who only seems to offer you disappointment and pain. Remembering that we all meet several soulmates in each life, the reason for this hurtful encounter is to learn a karmic lesson. That lesson can be very complex such as learning to say no, to be less generous, or even to value yourself more by expecting or demanding better treatment or more responsibility or respect from the people you allow to share your life with you.

Other common karmic baggage is about that ever so elusive material security, or irrational fears of fire or water. These challenges are often subsequent to having in the past taken one's wealth for granted or having perished by drowning or burning. One typical "karmic lesson" is being inflicted with woes similar to some we have mocked, ignored, dished out or exploited in a previous lifetime. Such as being crippled by an accident or being abused by a spouse. These lessons are our chosen karmic challenges in this lifetime. No wonder we don't readily remember previous lives or the process of choosing the challenges for this one. That understanding could drive us insane.

Along with the belief in this system of learning usually goes the faith that one will eventually escape the cycles of reincarnation through learning all the possible lessons. Mark my words, if you think you are nearing the end of your "need to know" learning, you still have at least one more lesson to go, humility.

Humour Offering

An old man goes to the Wizard to ask him if he can remove a curse he has been living with for the last 40 years.
The Wizard says "Maybe, but you will have to tell me the exact words that were used to put the curse on you."
The old man says without hesitation, "I now pronounce you man and wife."

BLOGS for PSYCHICS

When I started the internet component of my psychic business in 1996 there were only about 20 people worldwide providing spiritual readings or astrological or numerological reports by computer. Now there are probably in excess of half a million people offering readings and in some fashion advertising through their computers worldwide. Talk about an overly saturated or drowned market!
Trying to stay ahead of that mob in terms of exposure and advertising has become impossible. Being basically computer illiterate I really trust and depend on my web page service www.site-lines.com . These folks suggested I contribute to blogs or host one, a growing phenomenon on the net. Duh? So I surf around looking for blogs to which I might be able to make a relevant comment. Yuck.

First I'll try to explain what I understand a blog is supposed to be. Someone keeps a journal about a certain subject or simply as an old paper diary substitute maintains a record on a web page on the internet, and this communique includes live net (URL) links to related web page subjects or the focus or stimulus of the comments. The interesting thing about this opinion, viewpoint or story that is posted on the net is that comments by people surfing by that page are invited and accommodated by web page submission forms. So visitors' opinions and feedback become part of the page, subject to the page originator's approval, and both the owner's post and the comments eventually leak into the search engines when the relevant topics are sought. Blogs seem to be replacing the rather outdated notion of personal home pages on the net. Personal pages (where the person usually purchases their own name as a domain name or has their own page under a related institutional umbrella) are now only common for authors or artists or scientists expounding about their particular expertise.

So I blithely and innocently type "psychic blogs" in my favourite search engine, and whoops, there I am faced again by 4,000 ads for psychics flogging their wares! When I finally found some blogs by or about psychics, it became obvious that comments from the competition were not welcome, because when I contributed something one day, it was gone the next. Meanwhile comments from non professionals were much more sticky.

Don't hold your breath (is that yet another cliché?) for a blog on my pages. My views are too scientific and apart from the new age mainstream to be even palatable for many other readers who might visit. I have no desire to be in a position to defend or be berated for my methods and approaches. So folks, this is it from me, and if you wish for this newsletter to cover a topic I have missed so far, just drop me an e-mail and I will try to work it in eventually. Or if you are seeking clarification or a dialogue about psychic generalities, just drop me a line. If you have opinions, comments or feedback about any articles in this newsletter, please feel free to send them to me. Your take on an issue just might end up being acknowledged in a future newsletter. Please keep all requests for free readings routed through www.AllExperts.com .

The entire nature of Blogs is evolving as you read this. What used to be "feedback" invited about current articles on a news server page is now called a "blog" which is often included in the articles, similar to man on the street TV interviews. And of course there you are once again invited to comment on the blogs. Today's breaking news is a lawsuit aimed at a page owner because of comments he left on his page by a blog browser! My impression of blogs is to compare them to locusts on a dry prairie. We are being over run!

Trivial Bit

Purr Therapy

The household cat somehow knows when we're not feeling well and even where it hurts. Often when it hurts the cat just wraps itself around that spot and to begins to purr. A cat's purr is relaxing and stress reducing. Science now shows that the cat's purr is much more. It's not just the sound of purring that's important but the tremor it produces.

Vibrations at specific levels or frequencies cause healing changes in the body. They can, for example, induce bone growth and regeneration. Bone fractures heal faster and weakened bones begin to strengthen and rebuild. In the higher frequency ranges, the production of the body's own natural anti-inflammatory compounds increases and this reduces joint pain and swelling. There is further evidence of muscle, tendon and ligament repair through sound frequencies and physical vibrations as well, according to researchers in the former Soviet Union. Dr. Lev G. Fedyniak, the main source for this article, makes his home in the Ukraine and practices conventional and alternative medicine.

In various veterinary studies reported in professional journals, it appears that cats rarely suffer bone or joint related diseases, including hip dysplasia, arthritis and ligament problems. Even bone cancers are almost unheard of in cats. Researcher E. von Muggenthaler, a specialist in the field of bioacoustics (the study of the frequency, pitch, loudness, and duration of animal sounds as it relates to the animal's behavior), proposes that nature has endowed all felines with an evolutionary healing advantage in the act of purring.

Purring takes energy and cats purr not only when happy, but also when giving birth, or when they are hurt or frightened. There has to be a very good reason for spending this energy when the cat is physically stressed or ill. Muggenthaler recorded and measured the purr of 44 felids (members of the cat family) including cheetahs, ocelots, pumas, domestic cats, and servals. Cats usually purr in the range of 20 to 140 Hertz (Hz). Some are as high as 150 Hz but the average house cat comes in at about 25 and 50 Hz.

Research had already shown that exposure to frequencies at thatsame 20 and 50 Hz level could increase bone density. In 1994,Dr. Chen and Chinese associates, working with rabbits, determinedthat these frequencies promoted bone strength by 20%, stimulating both the mechanism and speed of fracture healing.

There is also substantial documentation that low frequency vibrations induce pain relief and healing of muscles and tendons, and cats purr at those magical rates. Dr. T. F. Cook in 1973 wrote in the N. Z. Veterinary Journal that one critically ill cat had such difficulty breathing that the vets were considering euthanasia. But the cat was found to begin breathing normally once it began to purr. The purring appearedto open up the cat's air passages.

By changing the frequency of their purring, cats appear to be fine-tuning their own healing abilities, and it is this unique skill that has likely given rise to the notion of cats having nine lives. They survive conditions that normally kill other animals, such as falls from heights. In a study of 132 cat falls with an average distance of 5 stories, 90% survived. The record height for a cat falling and surviving is 45 stories!

Dr. C. Rubin in a 1999 study discovered that exposure to these frequencies increased bone density, suggesting applications for osteoporosis, particularly in post-menopausal women and the elderly. Soviet researchers discovered the benefits of using vibratory stimulation many decades ago and have employed these techniques in sports training and sports medicine. These Russian treatment devices are making their way into Western gyms and physical therapy treatment centers. Even the space program has benefited from all this research. This vibration knowledge helps astronauts, who generally lose bone density in zero gravity, to maintain healthy bones and resist the problem of atrophy in outer space.

What is remarkable is the ability of a cat to sympathetically help cure illnesses in people simply by being around them. More studies have shown that owners, especially seniors, who have cats have lower blood pressure and statistically live longer than those who don't own pets. Many people swear they can ease or completely eliminate a migraine simply by lying down with a purring cat near their head.

So, go get yourself a cat. Keep it happy and purring. You're both likely to be healthier and you'll have a great friend who instinctively understands how you're feeling.
